I am essentially self taught and work with a variety of formats ranging from half-frame through to 6x6 cm medium format. In addition I also do stereo photography and digital imaging.

I have always been fascinated by photographs and hope that I always will be.

When I started, more years ago than I care to remember, the cameras were manual and very basic. All my early work was in black and white as colour was not very good and was exceedingly expensive. My first camera was a Kodak Brownie 127 which was fixed focus, aperture and shutter. Very much a point and shoot fair weather only camera. The old advice about having the sun behind you was also important with a simple plastic lens that was very prone to flare. As far as I know the 127 roll film is no longer available and you only got 8 shots on a film with a wait of 2 weeks for developing and contact printing.

I still use slide film in both 35mm and 645 medium format. Increasingly I use a Casio compact digital camera and my Sigma SD9 digital SLR. I spend much more time than I should on producing audio-visual shows with Pictures To Exe and ProShow Gold software.
